Spring has sprung!!

Hi everyone,
This weekend has been glorious weather-wise. Beautiful sunshine, hardly a breeze and to top it off a quilt show to attend. South Coast and Country Quilter's held their bi-annual quilt show this weekend at Bateman's Bay Soldiers Club. What a setting and what a show. Unfortunately for you girls I forgot the camera. Sitting on the kitchen bench at home. There were lots of very visually stunning quilts and I came home with a couple of purchases. Will show next post.

I had some sad news through the week, a close girlfriend was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) a debilitating disease that affects the nervous system. She is now at home recuperating so I thought I would make her a quilt. What do you think?

It's just the top for now.....will have to wait and go to work to pick some borders and backing. Will be visiting her in a couple of weeks when school holidays start here in NSW. Will have to get my finger out and have it finished. Luckily its an all over design and will not take long to quilt on my friends qulting frame.

After the show today I came home and have started another stitchery for a bag I plan to make. Oh by the way, I have now finished my stitching angel projects.....here's the last

So it's off to Holland in the next day or two.

Cheers everyone. Hope your weekend was as special as mine!

I'm on a Roll!

I've managed to finish a few other things this week. Firstly my Stitcher's Angel project No.2.
. Now I know you're all saying it has no stitching on it but it's for your all your stitching tools. I promise the next one will have stitching somewhere on it!! To tell you the truth embroidery is not my strong point. I'm a machine girl from way back. I'm usually found trying to make a handmade project into a machine made one!! I also made one of these pouches for myself in colours I don't normally use. But I just couldn't refuse to buy this gorgeous paisley fabric.
My goal today is to get this bag made.
Not much more to do but have to hunt around for the pattern. My sewing room is a little untidy after all the work it's had these last two weeks!!

Well I hope everyone has a great day sewing or whatever. Thanks for the comments you left girls! I did get them but not sure how to reply to you. I've gone through all the settings but still can't find what's wrong. Please know I was pleased to receive them and hope you and your families are well.

Cheers Sandy

Busy Week with results!!

This week saw me finish quite a few projects for different things. The first was our charity quilt for Cyberstitching Day in November. We're making a real day of it with raffles, lucky door prizes and lots of eats and treats throughout the day. Below is a couple of the prizes on offer.

The quilt is the result of the last stitching day held in June...it's a real joint effort. I must say a big thankyou to my Jersey Belles for their hard work and generosity.
This week also found me finishing my stitcher's angel project no. 1 which I gave you a sneak peek in the last post. Even though these are soo not my colours I'm very proud of the job I did.

Believe it or not I also finished handsewing the binding on this quilt....a kit I bought from the Sydney Craft and Quilt Fair in June. Again I'm rapped at how it's turned out. It's currently hanging in the shop to rave reviews...so does my ego good to hear those compliments!!!LOL!!

Well I hope you've lasted to the end...such a long post for me. The weather is cold and very overcast here so I think I will go and stitch some more of pressie no.2 for my stitching angel. Catch you all next time.
Take care
Sandy

Stitcher's Angel News

Hi there!! Well it's official....I'm a stitchers angel. The cut off date has been reached and now we are all waiting for our angel's names. So I thought I had better do a post so my angel knows I am still alive and kicking.

Shop News

We are still going strong with the Freeform knitting and soon we will be starting a beginner's patchwork class (just as soon as I get the sample finished LOL). I think I had better give you some background.

I bought the shop 2 1/2 years ago very run down and not a lot of stock as the previous owner had not been well. So the last two years have been spent restocking and doing the odd class. It's a small business with just me at the helm so hence the reason I'm always busy. I can now afford a staff member part time and on that day I will teach which is something I've wanted to do for a while. So things are starting to pick up for me. I'm soo in my element as I've been crafting all my life with one thing or another. At the moment it's patchwork, knitting, crocheting and odd bits and pieces. We are also just about to change the name of the store so look out for that one.

Well I've now to go and finish the blocks for the sampler quilt which I will post shortly...just very basic. And then I will bind my flannel quilt.

Till next time take care and bye for now

Finally some time...

The last couple of weeks have been interesting to say the least. I've been suffering through a head cold, cough and runny nose as well as enduring two migraines in the middle of this. I must have killed someone very famous in a previous life to have to go through this. LOL!! Anyway the shop has been busy...we've had two very successful freeform knitting classes as well as knitting and then felting class as well.

The freeform is sooo popular at the moment I've had to run back to back workshops just to accommodate everyone. All the students are so creative and inspired. Below are just a couple of students and their work.

And this was the table during class...

I wish I had had time to join in. All the ladies were very excited at the end of the day.

Our regular Wednesday group also had a mini workshop knitting then felting bags. We start with this..
which then becomes this.. and then we put it into a hot wash with an old towel. Alas no photo yet as I've still to put the handle on. So that will be next post.

Off to Canberra tomorrow for a girl's day out, shopping eating and spending money. What more could a girl ask for!! Will take the camera for some blog photos.

Take care and seeya soon!

Oops!

Had a senior moment and forgot to post Therese's booboo. So here we go!

Off I go!!

Cyber Stitching Day

Hi everyone! I know, it's been a long time between posts but my life suddenly took a left turn with out my indication and I have been extremely busy.
We have had a few changes at the shop with a total new look and different focus...mainly towards other crafts such as teddies, embroidery and freeform knitting. So organising workshops, stitching days and the like has left me a little battle weary. Enough of that. On to yesterday!!

I joined up for Karen's (mrsmartinsquiltshop.typepad.com) cyber stitching day and boy! did we have fun. We used the designs from Anni (Hatched and Patched) Downs new book Simple Pleasures. All our proceeds went to charity, with lucky door prizes and a few new-to-stitching ladies. Food was piled on with lots of chocolate goodies and endless cups of tea with a couple of glasses of wine thrown in.

This is everyone hard at work!

Heads down!!

Cuppa time. The male is my hubby taking advantage of all the goodies!!!
Therese with her booboo. This was her first time stitching and she did such a great job! Well done. I must admit I think we all have done the same thing once or twice in our life.

And this is Carolyn's effort...again a great job.

We have decided we are doing the next one in November. Bring on November!! Well I should go and get myself some brekky although I think I'm still full from all the food yesterday! Just some toast perhaps. It's overcast today so more stitching. Oh lucky me!

Take care everyone! Sandy G

A Long Weekend!

Here in NSW we had a long weekend celebrating Anzac Day. I closed the shop for the day and seeing as I had a girlfriend visiting we decided to sit and stitch. It was great to relax and chill without a dish being washed or a scrap of housework done (and no guilt about it either!!). Another girlfriend of mine turned up and so we chatted all afternoon while getting a bit of stitching done in the meantime.

I'm in the middle of two projects at the moment. One is a block of the week by Hugs'n'Kisses called Nice People Nice Things. There are fifty two stitcheries each double sided depicting different evceryday happenings. I'm up to number three but then a cold snap happened today and I'm back to finishing my knitted bag that I will felt in the washing machine.

I am so glad my girlfriend decided to stay this weekend as it's forced me to sit and take stock and chill out. I don't get to do that often. So thankyou Vincenza.

I've also joined a PIF club(pay it forward). I'm not sure what it entails but I'm sure I'm going to enjoy it. Will let you all know how I go.

Well it's getting late and I need to be up with the birds in the morning. Will see you all tomorrow!!

A Day Off!!

Well folks, I had a day off from the shop today and filled it up with errands. From getting up at 7am, getting kids off to school, going into town to post a present to my girlfriend for her 40th, grabbing a quick coffee, visiting the newsagent to get the latet mags and going to my embroidery group, I have had no time to myself to sit and stitch today.

I visited another patchwork shop and put a huge dent in my secret stash of cash. But what the hell, it's for just such 'emergencies'. I'm into knitting and felting handbags at the moment because it's something I can do at night and is a no-brainer. I found a couple of patterns at the patchwork shop so grabbed them and will start them tomorrow.

I'm so tired after today it's going to be an early nighter tonite.

Take care everyone and catch up soon.
Sandy

New to the Block

Hi there! My name is Sandy and I run a craft shop on the beautiful south coast of NSW.

You can read my interests in my profile. I'm sitting inside on the most gorgeous day ( go figure!), excited about starting this blog and a new chapter in my life. I've had the most busiest week and have jumped on here to relax.

Well thanks for allowing me to ramble and have a bit of a play. See you next time.
